Recycled castle: Part 2

For Part 1, click here.  The next step for our castle was painting.  We used an old plastic tablecloth to minimize messes.

We found that some types of paint stick better than others, but most of them worked just fine.  We used mostly acrylic and some water-based fingerpaints, but they didn't stick as well and were too translucent to use on a dark gray castle.  A wide water bowl is better than a cup when dealing with tots that are likely to spill it.

Here's our beautiful castle!

Part 3 will be peg people.  They are currently awaiting their finishing touches and a layer of gloss!

I hope you and your kiddos are enjoying crafting with us!
