The Holocaust Museum Houston is collecting 1,500,000 handmade butterflies for their Butterfly Project, each representing a child who died during the Holocaust. Here is my butterfly:
Yes, that IS a lot of buttons! I wanted it to look like something a child would like. I sewed them onto a few layers of felt with embroidery floss and added some pipe cleaner antennae. The butterflies will be displayed at the museum in 2012. The deadline for contributing butterflies is June 30, 2011, so there's plenty of time to participate. See the website for the details.
I'm Kelly and this is my little apple. She goes by "Sprite" because I think it describes her little personality well. All of my projects are created with her at my feet (sometimes pushing on my sewing machine pedal!). I spend most of my crafting time sewing children's clothes & toys and working on art projects with the little gal, although I don't think there's an art or craft out there that I haven't tried. We're big into upcycling and recycling too. I created this blog to share some of my latest projects and ideas with friends, new and old. Welcome!
